Wanting only the National Lampoon franchise, he sold Heavy Metal to Kevin Eastman in 1992 for $500,000. J2 Communications was a movie production and distribution company, and Jimirro was mostly just interested in the National Lampoon name and licensing it out. Part of the contract was that he would still print the NL magazine. However, very little effort was spent on it, and between 1992 and 1998, only 13 issues were published, until the contract was renegotiated and he was no longer allowed to print the magazine. He sold the National Lampoon name in 2002.
